Spring Break: First Stop - Paris, France

On March 18, my friend Liz and I jumped on a night train headed to Paris. We were in a 4 bed car with an old couple from England who moved to France a few years ago and were coming back after a trip to Venice. Besides the train being unbearably hot, we had a great trip to Paris. We arrived around 8:30 Saturday morning and took the underground metro to our hotel. We couldn't check in until 4:00 so we dropped off our bags and headed off to see Sacre-Coeur Basilica, a massive structure located at the highest point in the city. It is said that the Catholic church was built after the Franco-Prussian war in dedication of the 58,000 people who died their. Inside and out, the church was beautiful and very elegantly designed. The view of the city wasn't bad either!

We then took our time walking to Moulin Rouge just to see the outside and take pictures because tickets to see a show are quite expensive. Moulin Rouge is famous for its cabaret performances and the French CanCan. After seeing Moulin Rouge, we walked around the area a little bit and did some shopping before heading back to the hotel to check in and get ready to go out for dinner.

We took the metro to go see "The Paris Story" which is a one hour film that shows every hour in a small theatre that tells you about the history of Paris and all the famous sites. After we had our history lesson, we found a small cafe and ordered French style hot dog which is basically two long hotdogs inside of a baguette. It was delicious and then we went back to the hotel to get some rest before our next big day.

Will be continued soon!.....school is very very busy!
